1. Contest Overview

The Safety Showdown (“Contest”) is an online contest for construction crews in Alberta to test their safety knowledge.

Participants who engage with the daily resource and answer quiz questions correctly have a chance to win the daily prizes. Teams who answer the daily quiz as a crew are entered for a chance to win the weekly prizes and the grand prize.

Contest period

The Contest begins at 9 a.m. Mountain Standard Time (MST) on Monday, May 4, 2026, and ends at 11:59 p.m. MST on Friday, May 29, 2026.

During the Contest period, daily quizzes will only be available Monday to Friday, excluding Monday, May 18, and can only be opened by the team lead.

3. Eligibility

Here’s who can enter the Contest:

  • Employees of Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) member companies. ACSA member companies include more than 54,000 construction companies registered with the Workers’ Compensation Board of Alberta and more than 2,000 associate members. If you are unsure whether your company is a member of ACSA, visityouracsa.ca/membership.
  • Alberta residents, 18 or older.
  • No purchase required.

Employees, officers and directors of Alberta Construction Safety Association (“Sponsor”), any Contest sponsor or suppliers, their respective affiliates or representatives and those with whom the foregoing individuals reside are not eligible to participate in this Contest.

4. How to enter

Team leads: Sign up at the Contest website, Safetyshowdown.ca, with your name, address, email, phone number, company name and team name. Team leads must accept all terms and conditions to proceed through the registration process. Once you have accepted the terms and conditions, you can invite team members by entering their email addresses.

Team Members: To participate as a team member, you must be invited by your team lead. Once a team lead registers for the Contest and adds your email, you will receive an invite. The email will push you to the Contest website, Safetyshowdown.ca. You must fill out the online form with all required information to participate. The province, company and team name will all be prefilled, according to the information shared previously by your team lead. Team members must agree to the terms and conditions to complete their registration.

A “Participant” is one who completes the sign-up form submission on the Contest website during the Contest period. The Participant must provide all the information requested on the sign-up form, including their email address and phone number. Communications with the Participant will include Contest details, any prizes won, if applicable, and other content related to Contest participation.

A Participant can sign up as a solo player, but it is encouraged to sign up as part of a team.

Team names may be public-facing; therefore, they must comply with the following content restrictions or will be changed to comply with the following restrictions:

  1. A team name cannot be sexually explicit or suggestive, profane or pornographic.
  2. A team name cannot be derogatory or promote bigotry, racism, violence, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promote any form of discrimination whatsoever (including, but not limited to, discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age).
  3. A team name cannot promote drugs (illegal or otherwise), alcohol, tobacco, firearms/weapons, any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous, or any political agenda or message.
  4. A team name cannot be inappropriate, indecent, obscene, offensive, hateful, tortuous, defamatory, slanderous or libelous, endorse any form of hate or hate group, or depict cruelty to persons or animals, or contain content which might be reasonably expected to shock, insult or offend the community or breach community standards of decency.
  5. A team name cannot defame, misrepresent or reflect unfavourably upon the name or reputation of the Sponsor, its products, brands, services, employees, crew or customers, or other people (living or deceased), products or companies, or contain disparaging remarks about Sponsor or its products, brands, services, employees, crew or customers, or other people (living or deceased), products or companies.

5. Entries in Contest

Participants earn Entries to the Prize pool. An “Entry” is earned for engaging with resources and answering quiz questions correctly. Each Entry is part of a random draw taking place each morning, Monday to Friday, throughout the run of the Contest to determine the previous day’s daily Prize winner, and weekly on Monday mornings to determine the previous week’s weekly team Prize winners as well as the grand Prize winner. Only Participants registered as part of a team are eligible to win the weekly Prizes and the grand Prize.

6. Prizes

There are a total of 24 Prizes available to be won (each a “Prize(s)”). The Contest Prizes are as follows:

  • Daily individual Prizes: Nineteen (19) daily Prizes of a $50 digital gift card (valued at approximately $50 CAD);
  • Weekly team Prizes: Four (4) weekly team Prizes of lunch on ACSA up to $500 (CAD) to an agreed upon predetermined restaurant for a maximum of twelve (12) team members (valued at a maximum amount of approximately $500 CAD). Alcohol will not be covered as part of the Prize;
  • Grand team Prize: One (1) grand Prize awarded at the end of the Contest to a single team—a luxury suite experience with the Calgary Flames or the Edmonton Oilers during a regular season game (valued at approximately $14,000 CAD). Travel to and from the game, and accommodations are not included and will not be covered by the Prize package.

Prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and must be accepted as awarded.

7. Winner selection & notification

The chances of winning are dependent on the number of Entries received. The total number of Participants in the Contest also affects the overall odds of winning.

In their absolute discretion, the Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a Prize of equal or greater value in the event of the unavailability, for whatever reason, of the advertised Prize in whole or in part.

Winners will be contacted via the email address or phone number provided during sign-up, notifying them of their win and details on how to collect their Prize. Representatives of the Sponsor or affiliated partners will manage the Prize distribution. A Participant’s first name, team name and company name may be shared or published (including on the Contest website, social media channels or other promotional materials) if they win a Prize.

8. Prize claim requirements

Winners may be required to provide valid Alberta Government-issued identification and answer the following skill-testing question - ‘what is (12x2) - (6➗ 3)’ - before receiving their Prize. The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Participant suspected of fraudulent activity or rule violations.

Subject to the provisions of these Official Rules, each participant whose Entry is selected as a winner will be notified to that effect by the Contest Administrator via email. The winner will receive their Prize or Prize collection details via email, approximately one business day following the respective draw. Grand Prize winners will work with the Sponsor to coordinate a day and time to claim their Flames or Oilers luxury suite experience. Winners must respond within five business days to claim their weekly or grand Prize. Failure to respond may result in forfeiture of the Prize.

If the Prize is not claimed and returned for any reason as “non-deliverable,” then that Prize winner may be contacted using the phone number provided during sign-up. The Prize winner must respond within five business days of such contact, or the Prize winner will be disqualified from the Contest and will not receive the applicable Prize. The Prize will then be forfeited and will not be awarded in the Contest. If, for any reason, a Participant whose Entry is drawn is not declared the winner of the Prize, then that Prize winner will not have any claim against the Sponsor or against any other person, firm or corporation in respect of the Prize, the Contest or any matter related to the Contest.

9. Privacy
